About the Traditional Mongolian Yurt
Crafted by families in Mongolia, each yurt is hand-painted and constructed using Siberian pine and sheep wool. The color blue is a symbol of the Mongolian eternal sky, good luck, and respect. The toono (round sky light), is the shape of the wheel of Dharma and represents the 8 teachings of the Buddha. The ulzzi (the infinity knot), which is seen in several different variations in the paint and is also often sewn into the canvas, represents the connection of everything in the universe. Yurts are meant to connect us with the earth.
